As the Earth Heats Up, Action Cools Down

June 7, 2010 | Jenny Harvey |

A recent survey found that the number of people who believe global warming is simply a natural cycle of the Earth has risen. Skepticism has also grown in the belief that humans are the cause of Earth's rising temperatures. One thing for sure is that 2010 is on track to be the warmest recorded year ever.

Because of this changing attitude towards global warming, the need to take action has started to get moved down everyone's priority list - from politicians to individuals. Whether you believe in global warming or not, why should your attitude about preserving resources and supporting a cleaner, healthier environment change? It shouldn't, because we all know our precious resources will not last forever and polluting the environment is harming every living thing on this planet.

I feel that no matter what, doing whatever we can to lower pollution, reserve resources and discover cleaner energy will have positive impacts on our lives and our future. For those concerned about the loss of revenue from changing our destructive ways, think of all the new "green" jobs these positive actions will generate. So forget about the political and public debate on this issue and do what's right, whether you believe global warming is real or not.

Stay tuned next week for some summertime tips on what you can do to help the environment!
