Arianna Forster, known as Ari Up of the punk band The Slits, passed away on October 20 in LA at age 48. She was a leader in times when girls and young women were growing tired of the good girl image of most music. Along with other punk women like Exene Červenková, Poly Styrene and Chrissy Hynde, she showed just how tough and cool women can be, and gave a voice to a generation.
