Moving Style

cindarellaMy husband and I are moving. Again.

After experiencing what we considered settling down, when we spent 2.5 years in one apartment (Harvard Terrace in Tulsa...we still love that place), and after being married for 9.4 years, we've been gypsies for the majority of our lives. We used to like it, but we really don't like it, anymore.

Our current apartment, in downtown Dallas with a fab view of the flagship Neiman Marcus, Joule Hotel, and as big of a downtown feel as you can get in the midwest, costs as much as a kick-ass place in Brooklyn, has fewer perks, but we love it. However, as renters know, we're at the whim of our landlord masters, and we were given the option to either find a new apartment in our building or move to a corporate apartment for two weeks until our apartment was renovated with newer kitchen appliances and bathroom cabinets.

We almost moved into another apartment in the same building, but after realizing that we could have a house nearby but in a better neighborhood for almost half the price, we've decided to just do it big and change our environment by a thousand times, once again.

Sorry for making a short story long, but I think y'all get it. Moving sucks. And, since I don't have time to go pay homage to the Flagship Neiman's (it's a real treat - not the normal mall-style Neiman's), I'm just going to pay homage to moving style. We all know it, hate it, but at the same time - if there is a bright side to it - we don't have to worry about anything more than the brand of beer and pizza we serve our suckered-in friends. I thought about making a slideshow, but after really looking at myself in the mirror with my blue and white snowflake PJ bottoms, brown tank, green striped socks, and heavy black and gray sweater, realized that we want to avoid the nasty in the style section, I thought twice.

Instead, I'm just going to list stuff that I personally deem necessary for an emotionally stylish move:

  • Strong coffee
  • yummy leftovers from the night before
  • Heineken
  • blood-pumping music
  • a happy face

A bunch of strong guys with a dolly really helps.

Yes, they did indeed help! Movers are a godsend.
